Former Washington linebacker Deven Bryant has committed to USC, citing a combination of factors that made the Trojans an ideal fit for his future. Bryant's decision comes after a successful visit to USC, where he connected with head coach Lincoln Riley and defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. The opportunity to work with Ryan, known for his exceptional knowledge of the game and his track record in developing linebackers, was a significant draw for Bryant. Additionally, the prospect of returning to Southern California, where he had previously lived and attended high school, held personal appeal.
"I’ve always liked USC growing up," Bryant shared. "I’m familiar with the campus and visited a ton back in high school. I know a lot of the players on the team and I’m very excited about all the guys coming back. I think we’ll be able to accomplish a lot this upcoming year and I’m excited to be a part of that."
Bryant's decision to transfer to USC is particularly notable given his position as a true inside linebacker, a role that the Trojans were looking to strengthen this offseason. His recent breakout season with the Huskies, where he started most games, accumulated 62 tackles, and defended two passes, further solidifies his value as a key contributor to the team's success.
"There were a lot of reasons why I chose USC," Bryant emphasized. "The knowledge that coach Ryan has of the game is second to none and the history of linebackers that he has developed over the years was something that stood out to me."
As Bryant embarks on his new journey with the Trojans, fans can anticipate a promising future for the team, with the addition of a talented and experienced linebacker who is poised to make an immediate impact.
