But here's where it gets exciting: this functionality extends to external HDMI inputs when using devices like the Atomos Ninja Phone. This means you can preview or capture LUT-applied footage from your DSLR or mirrorless camera directly through your iPhone or iPad. Talk about a streamlined workflow!
For those who crave instant creativity, Film Kit also includes a set of built-in filter LUTs. Imagine having instant access to styles like Bleach Bypass, Bunny, Cinematic, IR, Monochrome, and Vintage, all designed to give your shots a distinct filmic character. This is perfect for when you need to move quickly from capture to delivery, whether you're live streaming or integrating into other workflows like NDI.
Mavis Camera's CEO, Patrick Holroyd, stated that they wanted to make cinematic decision-making feel effortless. With Film Kit, creators can easily monitor or capture the exact look they want, regardless of the camera they're using, without slowing down production.
To further simplify color management, Mavis Camera v7.4 introduces MLUTs (MavisLUTs). This innovative new format bundles multiple traditional LUTs and their associated metadata into a single, easy-to-manage file. This is a huge win for teams collaborating across different color spaces, helping to keep everyone on the same page.
And this is the part most people miss... Film Kit also unlocks Open Gate capture. This gives you the freedom to reframe and deliver your footage in different aspect ratios from a single take. Mavis Camera offers two Open Gate modes: one designed for Apple Log workflows and another for Rec.709. The Rec.709 mode can even capture above 4K resolution on supported devices. Plus, it now supports Apple Log 2, aligning with Apple's own professional capture workflows.
But that's not all! v7.4 also enhances cloud support with free ATOMOSphere Camera to Cloud integration. This allows for progressive uploading to the Atomos ecosystem for review, sharing, and seamless collaboration.
