Stearns County E-Waste Drop-off: What to Know for 2025 (2026)

Tired of that old tech cluttering up your space? Good news for Stearns County residents! Starting January 5th, you'll have a super convenient way to responsibly ditch your outdated electronics. The Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Waite Park is opening its doors to e-waste disposal, making it easier than ever to declutter and do your part for the environment.

Getting rid of your electronics will be a breeze. Just pull up to the drive-thru during their regular hours, which are Monday through Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. It's as simple as dropping off any other hazardous waste items.

Now, let's talk specifics. There's a small fee of $10 per screen for certain items. This includes smartphones, TVs, monitors, laptops, tablets, smart mirrors, and smart boards. This fee helps cover the costs associated with safely recycling these items.

So, what exactly can you bring? Here's a handy list:

  • Televisions: (CRT, flatscreen, plasma, projection)
  • Phones: (smart, flip, landline)
  • Monitors, laptops, tablets, e-readers
  • Smart mirrors, home security displays, smartboards
  • CPUs, printers, scanners, fax machines, copiers
  • Keyboards, mice, cords, routers, cable boxes
  • VCR/DVD/DVR players, gaming systems, and headphones
  • Home sound systems, speakers, stereos, receivers

But here's what they won't accept:

  • Kitchen appliances
  • Hygiene electronics
  • Yard/garden tools
  • Automotive products
  • Vacuums, fans, lamps, and other general household items

And this is the part most people miss... This ongoing service is a direct response to the popularity of a one-day e-waste recycling event held earlier this year, which was a huge success. This clearly demonstrates the community's commitment to responsible waste management.

For more detailed information, you can visit the Stearns County website or give the Household Hazardous Waste Facility a call at 320-257-8605.

What do you think? Is this a convenient solution for disposing of your old electronics? Do you think the screen fee is reasonable? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
