The Yankees, according to sources, offered Bellinger a lucrative five-year deal with a minimum of $30 million per season. This offer aligns with the contracts other top-tier hitters have secured this winter. For example, Pete Alonso recently signed a five-year, $155 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles, and Kyle Schwarber agreed to a five-year, $150 million deal to remain with the Philadelphia Phillies. However, Bellinger's camp, represented by the well-known agent Scott Boras, is seeking a deal that extends beyond five years and offers a higher average annual value than the Yankees' current offer.
Last season, Bellinger showcased his talent by hitting .272 with 29 home runs for the Yankees, alongside a .334 on-base percentage and a .480 slugging percentage.
Manager Aaron Boone praised Bellinger's defensive skills, athleticism, and versatility.
